ABSTRACT
Steel, glass and light, embodied in a spiral…This could sum up the project. A pedestrian connection between a vertical slope of ten meters. It is the last section remaining to complete the pedestrian communication between the train and the bus station in downtown Oviedo. This strange organic body is composed by platforms, walkways, bridges, shopping malls, and finally this intermodal helix, which is difficult to be reduced to any known typology. As in any infrastructure, its form is due to its ability to connect paths. In his wanderings, as snake scales, three different glass materials filter the wind, combining the sound of the traffic with its whistle. Besides, this vitreous skin produces a kaleidoscopic effect combining the images of the traffic, the pedestrians, the built context and the constant mutations of the sky.
