TEXT
SOCIAL HOUSING FOR SENIORS
Touching the Sky: We propose a tower and a park. The ambition to ascend to heaven,
combined with the serenity of having your feet down on the ground.
Why a tower? Because it occupies the minimum area possible, allowing the development
of social and recreational activities at the open space free in the square level. Because it
maximizes the sunlight, so that the elderly could enjoy more natural light hours. Because it
allows spectacular views over the bay of San Sebastian, introducing the ocean horizon
into each apartment…and finally, because it minimizes the number of elevators and
stairs.
Touching the Ground: The tower emerges from three different platforms, each with its
own programs: the lower level in the east corner of Paseo de Mons, gives access to the
parking lot. The second, above the previous one, contains a “hard” square, where it is
located the access to the tower in double height, but also the independent access to the
Senior Center. Finally, on the upper level, connected to the Paseo de Zarategi, there is a
garden with orchards for senior’s leisure.
