TEXT

The difficulty in the project of the New Town Hall in Zubiri lies in our intention to
offer a design with an indeterminate program which may eventually undergo
mutations.
The starting point of this project is a spatial system whose total unit (a 4.2 x 3.6
x 3.6 meters three-dimensional module) will be able to hold the basic units of
the required program, and whose multiple different combinations will make it
adapt to more complex arrangements.
We propose a specific departure point, through a particular program, which has
been made from the analysis of present needs. This starting point gives each
programmatic unit a specific dimension, depending on its optimum size.
Our contribution is a spongy building with multiple borings, which allows
crossed views in all directions. All the floors are visually connected and there
are no clear hierarchies, only transparencies and connections.
This way of operating offers not a unique and exclusive result, but one among
many possible solutions. Hence, this proposal is open to modifications,
depending on the variations in the program or any other requests, without
altering the building’s internal coherence.
