New Dimensions of Mining Landscape
Research Project supported by CEDEX (Centro de Estudios y Experimentación de Obras Públicas). The research aims to develop a Compared Landscape able to evaluate the “new dimensions” of mining landscapes. The project elaborates a map in which are displayed relationships beyond the old industrial values, in what we called a Cultural Landscape.
The project selects six mining locations placed along the Spanish geography. Each place is analyzed through its particular conditions in order to develop several proposals of action, that suggest the regeneration of these landscapes.
The goal is not only to upgrade the identity of the area, but also provide specific architectures, through new readings and the manipulation of the outdated mineral exploitation. A Cultural Landscape should be sensitive to the memory of the place but in order to reinterpret it in a contemporary way.
