TEXT
The proposal presents a prototype for a bio-sustainable beach bar designed as a modular, lightweight and easily transportable assembly kit, capable of adapting to both urban and wild beaches. The building is organised into three volumes of decreasing ‘hardness’: Volume A (a hardwood core with kitchen, storage and toilet), Volume B (a covered porch or peristyle that frames the landscape) and Volume C (an optional textile shade structure for cultural activities). Its architecture seeks to integrate into the landscape through discreet horizontal development and a design inspired by Greek temples, allowing for energy self-sufficiency through photovoltaic panels and water tanks in environments without infrastructure.
From a construction point of view, the project is committed to the circular economy and local identity, using FSC-certified Galician wood and locally sourced industrialised panels. The system is based on a structure of heat-treated wooden porticos modulated every 2.4 metres, assembled using dry joints and simple tools to allow quick assembly and disassembly without specialised labour. This strategy not only reduces the carbon footprint to a minimum, but also guarantees the durability of the building against the marine climate and facilitates its total recycling at the end of its useful life, making it a model of zero environmental impact.
