TEXT

The KIT Cero proposal owes its slogan to two key aspirations: on the one hand, it is designed as a modular kit that can be easily assembled, dismantled, moved, extended or reduced, thanks to a limited number of components that are fitted together directly using simple tools. On the other hand, it emphasises the local sourcing of its materials, with a clear cycle of reuse and a focus on lightness. Both aims seek to achieve a ZERO environmental impact. A building whose ecological footprint and energy consumption will be zero.

This dual requirement prompts us to reflect on the contrast between the enduring nature of Roman architecture and our proposal’s aspiration to leave no trace. A contradiction that is resolved if we take a step back and realise that, in order to remain on this planet, we must inevitably curb our invasive practices and build in a different way.
